Yep, this hearkens back to my days in 2nd Edition and the house rules we played back then. I love the magic of the dice and how crazy outcomes can occur when 1's and 20's are rolled in succession. Best roll ever? four 20s in a row. Last week, in session.....two 1's in a row. Unbelievable! For better or worse these moments oftentimes lead to epic memories.
So yes......roll a 1, roll again. If its another 1, roll again. Etc. Each new 1 doubles the magnitude of the outcome....for the worse. roll a 20, roll again. If its another 20, roll again. Etc. Each new 20 doubles the magnitude of the outcome....for the better.
Special notes for Hobbits (Luck):
If a hobbit rolls a one, their luck allows for a second roll...if the second roll happens to be a 1 then the open sequence begins. Their luck, therefore, will eliminate the first 1 rolled.
