During new player introduction I try to make it clear to our new members that all stats and skills will be used along your characters journey. At Trinity there is no such thing as a "dump stat." The best made characters are well balanced.
On Mirtul 13th, 1499 D.R. the Cat and Mousers(CAM) returned to the Village of Homestead to meet with their handler, Emmanual Simpson. The CAM members had encountered strange events, investigated the circumstances and interviewed the local garrison soldiers about their experiences as well. They had come to know that the adversaries that awaited them in the woods were many, and they were dangerous. Approaching Agent Simpson the group formulated a plan to try and influence him to support them in their request for better quality armor and weapons. Gani, the Ornery Gnome, represented the group in the discussion.
Gani's player did a great job role playing the moment in an influential way. His dice roll further enhanced his ability. His roll was based on Charisma.....a commonly overlooked stat. It was a pivotal moment in the story-line. It was well thought out and well played. Their handler, already sympathetic to their cause was heavily motivated by the group's need, and Gani's influence. Emmanual pulled strings, begged, borrowed and leveraged future favors to get the group the equipment they needed. The effort ended with Quality 6 armor and weapons for everyone in the party. In addition, Gar, the Halfing Paladin received custom made armor that gave him advantage against knock-down, and damaged any attackers that try to grapple him; a nice addition in deed. This was a significant upgrade to their current load-out. It would take weeks of earning enough coin to obtain these items, or months of adventuring hoping to acquire the upgrades through chance.
Without the equipment boon, they may not have fared so well in the days to come. This all occurred a few days before the Battle for Crossroads. A battle, that no one could have predicted. The Cat and Mousers dominated their section of the battlefield and solidified their place as heroes in the hearts and minds of the local villagers.
To some, intelligence, wisdom, and charisma are considered "dump stats" unless it is specifically needed for their character build. Please always know, that at Trinity, their are no dumb stats....the groups skills, abilities and stats will be used in every way imaginable.
Thanks All!
